Today is my very frist etsyversary. I've now been one year on Etsy as a seller and sold 568 items, which is wonderful!
My life has really changed since Etsy as I intend to make it a living.
I met wonderful people on Etsy and also bought beautiful items there.
I must admit, I do love Etsy.

1. OK for one entry: you haven't made any gourds.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. for another entry: a joke
hope I don't offend. This is a typical Canadian joke. (explanation: Newfies live on our island province, Newfoundland & we, mainland Canada, have traditionally made good-natured fun at their accents & their homespun ways).
The Newfie Stud:
Bob liked to frequent the Newfoundland beaches, but was never able to attract the girls. He decided to ask his friend George the lifeguard for advice.
'It's dem big baggy swimming trunks, my son.
Dey're years outta style. Yer best bet is to grab yeself a pair of Speedos - about two sizes too small, and drop a fist-sized potato down inside 'em. I'm telling ye, man ... ye'll have all de babes ye wants !'
The following weekend, Bob hits the beach with his spanking new tight Speedo, and his fist-sized potato. Everybody on the beach was disgusted as he walked by, covering their faces, turning away, laughing, looking sick!
Bob went back to George the lifeguard and asked him, 'What's wrong now?'
'Lard-Tunderin' Jeezus b'y!' said George, 'the potato goes in the front!!'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3. For the 3rd entry:
I love the Macarons because I've not seen them over here and the croissants. You've made them look so real.

Soooooo:
Little Johnny was sitting in class doing math problems when his teacher picked him to answer a question, "Johnny, if there were five birds sitting on a fence and you shot one with your gun, how many would be left?" "None," replied Johnny, "cause the rest would fly away." "Well, the answer is four," said the teacher, "but I like the way you're thinking."
Little Johnny says, "I have a question for you. If there were three women eating ice cream cones in a shop, one was licking her cone, the second was biting her cone and the third was sucking her cone, which one is married?"
"Well," said the teacher nervously, "I guess the one sucking the cone."
"No," said Little Johnny, "the one with the wedding ring on her finger, but I like the way you're thinking."
Yey contest xD Well here would be my favourite items in your shop:

Here's just a friendly Blonde joke :)
There were two blondes, and they had just came from a store.
The blonde that owned the mustang had locked her keys in the car. She was trying to pick the lock when she stoped to rest for a second.
When she sat down, her friend said, "Hurry up, it's starting to rain and the top's down!"

and this one is to make you laugh:
Stress Management:
Just in case you are having a rough day, here is a stress management
technique recommended in all the latest psychological journals. The
funny thing is that it really does work and will make you smile.
1. Picture yourself lying on your belly on a warm rock that
hangs out over a crystal clear stream.
2. Picture yourself with both your hands dangling in the cool
running water.
3. Birds are sweetly singing in the cool mountain air.
4. No one knows your secret place.
5. You are in total seclusion from that hectic place called the
world.
6. The soothing sound of a gentle water fall fills the air with
a cascade of serenity.
7. The water is so crystal clear that you can easily make out
the face of the person you are holding underwater.
:D
every time I see your work I have to stop myself from eating my monitor! Your work is just amazing! so much detail!! Happy Etsyversary!

Stephanie.... you have never made aubergines(eggplants) or asparagus.
ReplyDeleteLooking at all the wonderful food that you created has made me want to try some too so I've just orderd Angie Scarr's new book (because you mentioned her & I'm assuming that's how you got started). Thanks for the inspiration.
Sorry....can't resist sending you another Canadian Newfie joke:
ReplyDeleteA Newfie wants a job, but the foreman won't hire him until he passes a little math test. Here is your first question, the foreman said. "Without using numbers, represent the number 9."
"Without numbers?" The Newfie says? "Dats easy." And proceeds to draw three trees.
"What's this?" the boss asks.
"Have you ain't got no brain? Tree and tree plus tree makes 9" says the Newfie.
"Fair enough," says the boss. "Here's your second question. Use the same rules, but this time the number is 99."
The Newfie stares into space for a while, then picks up the picture that he's just drawn and makes a smudge on each tree... "Ere you go."
The boss scratches his head and says, "How on earth do you get that to represent 99?"
"Each of da trees is dirty now. So, it's dirty tree, and dirty tree, plus dirty tree. Dat makes 99."
The boss is getting worried that he's going to actually have to hire this Newfie, so he says, "All right, last question. Same rules again, but represent the number 100."
The Newfie stares into space some more, then he picks up the picture again and makes a little mark at the base of each tree and says, "Ere you go. One hundred."
The boss looks at the attempt. "You must be nuts if you think that represents a hundred!"
The Newfie leans forward and points to the marks at the base of each tree and whispers, "A little dog come along and poop by each tree. So now you got dirty tree and a turd, dirty tree and a turd, and dirty tree and a turd, which makes ONE HUNDRED!"
The Newfie is the new supervisor.
Happy Etsyversary!
Okay, here is my suggestion for something new: What about non food? Tiny crafter settings. Sewing Machine and fabric. Little balls of wool and knitting stuff and so on ..
ReplyDeleteHere comes the joke. Don't expect much, though :D
ReplyDeleteLittle Johnny is approached by the lifeguard at the public swimming
pool. "You're not allowed to pee in the pool!" yells the lifeguard.
"But everyone pees in the pool," said Little Johnny.
"Maybe," said the lifeguard, "but not from the diving board!"
I like the cookie ring and the rainbow popsicles earrings a lot.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just twittered about this :)
I am not on FB and I can't tell joke, sorry ;)
And I like Vad's idea for national foods. For Belgium you could do mossels and fries!
1 entry, 2 shop favs: macaron dangle earrings(I'd so buy these) and the grapefruit earrings
ReplyDelete1 entry, new suggestion: a macaron bracelet or a bracelet consisting of lemon, orange, lime and grapefruit slices or a ring with the band made of fruit slices (if you have no idea what I mean I can try to draw a picture of these ideas) A melon break ring! I love melon bread.

ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteMy favourite items have to be the strawberry charlotte and your miniature fruit tarts. I love everything you make, but I feel that these and your sushi earrings/pendants are your signature pieces!!
Tushara
And as for new items, I think little yum cha (dim sum) items would be adorable! You can even present them in the bamboo steamer baskets. And little egg tarts can make really cute little earrings. Other things could be siew mai, har gao, char siew buns... yum yum....
ReplyDeleteTushara

First off, thanks a million for running this contest! Whomever wins this is going to a sweet treat indeed! I found your work on dA and have just been blown away by how skilled you are and in such a relatively short period of time to boot.
ReplyDeleteIn the store right now, my two favourite items would have to be the Chocolate and Pink cake http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23768008 (the moist texture is just mouthwatering!) and the Salmon Board (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=21658118) - beautiful!
Just want to add also that I love the bracelets you have up on the deviantART account, as well as the teeny weeny box of colourful macarons!
I shall comment more as I attempt to complete more of the tasks :D
I just love all the goodies in your shop, but you said we could only choose 2 :( so here are my 2.. The adorable fruit tarts and the cookie preparation.. Wow that was really hard to even type without wanting to change it again..LOL
ReplyDeleteIt was the sushi earrings that brought me to your shop, so they are obviously my fav, together with the sushi necklace.
ReplyDeletejuan_hurrican(at)yahoo(dot)com
I second the idea of dim sum pieces, they would be fun to wear. I also suggest more seafood (lobsters, fish - the whole one, not salmon steaks, etc.)

My favorite things in your store are probably the croissants and the salmon items. I work a bit with polymer clay, when I have some spare time, and those things are what I probably admire the most.
ReplyDeleteYay I have joined your facebook page!
All your items are fantastic. I do not do much with clay as I am not very good at it. But you are fantastic. The two items that I liked best are the Fruit Delight in Red and Yellow and the Cookie Prep Board.
ReplyDeleteMy joke is "What is a pirate's favorite letter?"
"RRRRRRRRRR"
you should totally try waffles/pancakes with strawberries and cream.
ReplyDeletemy favourites were the sushis!
Every single thing I see in your blog or your flickr.. makes me stare at the computer screen and can't even blink..
ReplyDeleteI can't even choose which is my favorite. Depends on the day's mood.
Today I wish I could manage to make one of the two following..
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24390404
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=19551192
or at least look half as good. :D
And definetly fan on facebook.
Congrats on your annversary! You derseve it! Your miniatures are the best!
ReplyDeleteWent and had a look at your etsy....My favorites are your fruit tars and your prep boards.....I can't just pick 2! I would be so broke if I had a way to order your minis....They're all so real looking!!!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy absolute FAVOURITE are the large fruit tart earrings. I don't even have to check out your shop to know that! (actually, I do love the salmon and prawns because they look so real, but as a vegetarian I think people would laugh at me for wearing them. So fruit tart it is!)
ReplyDeleteI became a fan on your facebook page (easy!)
ReplyDeleteSuggestion for new stuff:
ReplyDeleteWhy not do food/ sweets from around the world? I'm in Australia, and I think it would be funny to see ANZAC biscuits and pavlova in miniature. In America maybe fruit pie and key lime pie? In England scones and steamed pudding. Princess torte for Sweden... black sticky rice for Japan (not very interesting to look at, though)
what happens when you go to bed with an itchy butt?
ReplyDeleteyou wake up with stinky fingers!!!
bahahah. so dumb but i love it.
My joke (food themed just for you!):
ReplyDeleteA sausage and a rasher of bacon are in a frying pan. The sausage says "Whew! It's getting hot in here!" The bacon looks round and screams "Look! A talking sausage!"
1. My two favorites are:

ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across your lovely food today and I am drooling over those croissants! I could honestly eat a whole batch of them an not feel bad one bit :) Your polyclay work is incredible. The salmon is my second favorite.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see you do more odd fruits like pomegranates. I think you could do anything just lovely though.
I am not very funny so I won't try a joke but I am your new fan so you win anyway :)
I love your fruit!
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if you sold some fruit canes.
I just found your lovely site last night, and already I have multiple favorites! If I had to pick two; I would say the hot dog dangle earrings and the kiwi & blueberry tart ring.
ReplyDeletePhew! That was so difficult!
I would love to see some T-bone Steak earrings! Also, rings and/or earrings made with your breads would be adorable.

My two favorite items in your shop would be the Choclate & Orange Supreme Cake and the Chocolate truffles. As a certified choco-holic-they are the only chocolate that wouldn't get me in trouble. LOL My dolls have asked where is their chocolate?

Your miniatures are delightful! I would love to see any of them as cufflinks.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to pick favorites, but I do like the cookie prep board and the sub/hero sandwich earrings.
Also, whole roast chickens.
